The Gates of Oblivion open again on June 1st, 2021 if you play on PC and June 8th if you play on console.
ZeniMax Online, makers of The Elder Scrolls Online, announced the new expansion pack/yearly saga for The Elder Scrolls Online, titled Blackwood, yesterday evening.
Blackwood serves as a prequel to Oblivion and takes place 800 years before the fourth mainline Elder Scrolls game. Longtime fans will have key narrative threads pay off by exploring the whereabouts and activities of characters such as the Daedric Prince, Mehrunes Dagon.
Subtle Revamps
Every yea,r ESO makes some changes to its existing formula to keep the game feeling fresh. This year, ESO is adding more dungeon combat, more exploration, and a new companion.
Exploration will serve as a good way to break up the constant stream of combat that can be ESO’s question, and a new companion system will make exploring the game world more enjoyable because every bit of dialogue in ESO is fully voiced.
Instead of questing by yourself, your new companion will be able to provide context for what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.
In all, Blackwood will add 30 hours of new story content, along with a new zone, new world events, new world bosses, a new companion system, and new dungeons.
Content is King
The thing that makes ESO special is its ability to not only deliver quality content but deliver it consistently.
Games like World of Warcraft, Star Wars The Old Republic and Guild Wars 2 go months or years without major patches, updates, or expansions.
ESO not only releases a new expansion every year, but it also releases new DLCs consistently.
Gamers who don’t want to wait five months to get their hands on Blackwood can start playing the DLC lead up to it named Planes of Ambition on March 8th on PC and 18th on console.
